For the first time one of the ladies in the church gets a mention. The keen eyes of Hilary Franklin spotted a special offer being advertised by Chutneys Indian Restaurant that appealed to everyone. A small ad in the window of the restaurant declared that Chutneys were offering half price curry and drinks, an opportunity not to be missed. It was pointed out that the offer was not advertised for long with the sign being removed within a couple of days! Nevertheless after a call from Bill and confirmation, Chutney’s honoured the deal and good curry and beer was had by all that turned out. Bill commented that even at half price the quality and potions were good. The only minus point was that the restaurant still permits that outdated practice of smoking. Just the one cigar was enough to waft over to the table where the good clean living gents were sited. We welcome the ban of smoking in public places in England soon.
So Jim, Alan, Bill, Ian, Colin (late arriving), Brian G, Brian S, Colin M, David Hart, Keith and Darren gathered for the usual pre-meal drink and worldly discussion. It wasn’t long before Darren, having bought a new car, was seen going back and forth to check on his recent purchase. Such is the concern of owning a desirable object that we leave out in the street. Someone offered the sound advice that a 10 year old Ford Escort 1.1 popular is a much less sort after vehicle and enables a more relaxed sleep at night.
As the usual finance rep was again unwell, so it fell to Ian to collect payment for the night’s meal. Someone pointed out that it wasn’t necessary to use the collection plates in these circumstances.
All agreed it was an enjoyable evening out and a recommended restaurant for those wanting an authentic curry.
