We decided to give Indian curry a miss this month and try out a new small establishment in Rushden. Thai curry was on the menu. Bill had done his usual pre-visit checks and the nice owner agreed to do a selection of dishes for us. Those in attendance were, Peter, Ian, Jim M, Bill, Alan B, Nick, Tony, Keith and Colin.
We had a buffet style selection of starters that had every ones agreement. People chose different main courses and all agreed that their selection was good. The quantity and quality was very good. With the quality scoring 5/5 and quantity 4/5 on our new scoring system. Popular choice was the Jungle curry! The chief was on hand to describe the different meals and was very friendly and knowledgeable.
The table split 3 ways with conversation - a mixture of politics and Dr Who, PS2 games (Bill and Tony admitting their passion for the game controller) and menus and food (no change there then). We did all join in a bizarre conversation about different words and their meanings. I can't quite remember why, but I recall there being some hearing problems. This was confirmed later when we explained to Bill that Dan was describing goths and not moths a while back. He did wonder how a moth was painting its nails.
When we finished the meal we called out the owner/chief and showed our appreciation with a round of applause. The bill was calculated and after a slight adjustment by the lovely lady serving us, it came to exactly what the treasurer had calculated; say no more.
The score for the "Thai in Cafe" was 22/25, an excellent result. I must point out that the opinions stated and used to judge and score are entirely personal. Roll on August!!
