June 07 Curry Club - Shaad, Burton Latimer

The men sampled another new venue this month, travelling the short distance to Burton Latimer to the Shaad Indian Restaurant. Tony, Bill, Alan B, Pastor Ian, Peter, Alan P, Ian R, Keith, Colin & Colin, Brian G and Jim arrived to meet Brian B, who made his regular lone trip. We were quickly taken upstairs and had a room to ourselves. Perhaps our rowdy reputation had reached the sleepy village just outside Kettering.

The menu was a fixed price with a starter, main course and side order to share between two, all for £10. Everyone agreed that the quality was very good as was the quantity. Service was reasonably quick and politely served.

With the usual treasurer back, we expected the bill calculations to continue with the excellent standard set by Pastor Ian, especially as the food was easy to calculate. However, when the bill arrived we were around £25 out. After a long discussion with the staff and realising that Brian B had in fact ordered and taken out 2 Lassi’s, we had been charged for 5 cokes we hadn’t drunk and a number of other wrongly assumed (on my behalf) prices, everything was resolved amicably.

Now, a long over due feature has been added to these ramblings, that of scoring the experience. Using a complex points system involving a 1 to 5 scale and categories ranging from cost to quality of food, each visit will now be scored out of a maximum of possible 25 points. I must state that this is purely the personal opinion of those attending. The Shaad set a very good benchmark of 18 points. We don’t include mistakes in the bill as these are easily rectified!
