Every month on the first Thursday of the month, the men of the Rushden Mission Church meet up for a Curry Night. While the intention was to keep to a curry theme every time, it became apparent that some people don’t like curry! So the venue changes from a restaurant within local distance, a pub to the Mission Church itself.
When we are at the church we have a mixture of take away curry, Chinese and fish chips eaten at the church. We’ve even had a chef come long distance to cook for us in the church kitchen.
Our preference is visiting the various restaurants and pubs in the local area. These provide us with variety and allow us to rate each establishment and agree our favourites. We have commented a number of times that we should have recorded something of these evenings to provide some memory of the occasions. Well finally we have started to put pen to paper, or fingers to keyboard. The following pages provide a small insight into these nights, which are proving to be popular. The ladies in the church have begun to mutter about not being able to join us – well there’s no stopping them organising their own do. We even had one young lady attempt to join us dressed with a false beard.
