This month we visited the greatly named Red Hot “World Buffet and Bar” in Northampton. Several cars took different routes to Northampton picking up people on the way to ensure that Ian, Alan, Jim, David, Brian G, Lewis, Tony, Bill, Keith and Colin & Colin all met up at the restaurant.
We were sat in a very packed restaurant and in particular all squeezed around a couple of tables. One side of the table all sat with their backs to an ornamental rail. As this was a buffet, it was a case of one up all up for the next helping. We were also not too far from a small smoking area, which allowed some of the obnoxious weed smell to drift over. We continue to look forward to the banning of smoking in the very near future in all public places.
We have to say the selection of food was excellent, with dishes from Mexico, India, China and Thailand. As it was a buffet, there was plenty to eat, including pudding.
There was a small group who lowered the tone of conversation by discussing politics, but they were left by themselves as other more interesting conversations were had about food and sport.
Having missed out January and the chance to exchange Christmas stories, it wouldn’t be right unless Bill told us what his latest present was. This year he had received a didgeridoo. It would have been rude of us not to make various comments about how it was wrapped up and disguised or even how Hilary managed to get it back into the country through customs!
